The Avenue District Honored at the Smart Growth Awards

The Avenue District received the Smart Growth Community Excellence Award for development proposal at the 2006 awards program from the Smart Growth Education Foundation. Zaremba was honored to receive this award and will continue to plan and develop areas with Smart Growth objectives in mind. Smart Growth, is “A Common Sense Approach to the Future Development of Northeast Ohio Communities.” The foundation’s objectives include meeting housing demands in smarter, more efficient ways and preserving meaningful open spaces, while planning and building with more density.  Smart Growth also promotes protection of environmentally sensitive areas by carefully planning and managing growth. The Smart Growth program takes into account when and where new residential areas, commercial development, schools and major highways should be built and located; and how to pay for the infrastructure required to serve a growing region.
