More housing, amenities make downtown an enticing place to live

Downtown living never sounded sweeter if you listen to the buzz of developers who are circling the Flats, Warehouse District and East 12th and St. Clair looking to land their residential projects and entice more to live, work and play in the city’s core.
“People sometimes forget the incredible renaissance this city has undergone in the last decade,” said Jonathan Glance, project manager and architect for Zaremba Homes, which is developing The Avenue District at East 12th Street and St. Clair Avenue. “Where else in Northeast Ohio can you choose to eat at one of dozens of Cleveland’s best restaurants, catch a game at The Q and take in a show at House of Blues or stroll through the Theater District all in the same night?”
More than 8,000 people call downtown Cleveland home, and that number continues to increase, according to Joseph Marinucci, president of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance.

Zaremba, Inc. Submits Foundation PermitZAREMBA, INC. SUBMITS FOUNDATION PERMIT WITH CITY OF CLEVELAND FOR THE AVENUE DISTRICT
CLEVELAND – Aug. 30, 2006
Zaremba, Inc., developer of The Avenue District, a $250-million-plus residential development in downtown Cleveland, has submitted for a Foundation Permit to allow underground construction to begin at 1211 St. Clair Ave., on the northeast corner of East 12th Street and St. Clair Avenue. Construction of The Avenue District is set to begin in the fall of 2006 pending pre-sale requirements being met.
“Application for the Foundation Permit brings us one step closer to making The Avenue District a reality, and to revitalizing the residential landscape of downtown Cleveland,” said Nathan Zaremba, president of Zaremba.
Permit approval is projected for mid-September. In the near future, the company will submit for the Super Structure Permit to begin above ground construction. The Avenue District’s first phase includes the construction of 50 elegant lofts, eight penthouses, and 15 townhomes.
