What is The Avenue District? Let's take you for a walk. Starting at the northeast corner of E. 12 th Street and St. Clair Avenue, you head toward the shopping entrance of the Galleria, then walk south, past the future site of The Avenue District Block Two on one side, and the chiseled elegance of One Cleveland Center to the north. The city unfolds before you as you cross Rockwell Avenue, embracing you with the beauty unique only to city streets laid out centuries before. Conveniences are everywhere, from St. John's Cathedral (E. 9 th and Superior) to the offices of banks such as Charter One Bank, Ohio Savings Bank headquarters, and Huntington Bank. We pause for a second at E. 12 th Street and Chester Avenue to grab a bite to eat at the Atlanta Bread Company and enjoy Chester Commons (Perk Plaza), a little break of nature in this urban environment. Looking south along E. 12 th Street, the road narrows and gives way to the Playhouse District, but we head east along Chester to appreciate the art deco design of the historic Greyhound Terminal building. Turning left onto E. 13 th Street we pass Reserve Square, stopping into their market to pick up a sandwich and bottle of wine for this evening. We continue walking north, passing Site Three of The Avenue District. With its edgy townhomes and architecturally stunning studio lofts, this new block of homes will be a jewel within the city. Looking west along Rockwell, the city skyline beckons as you walk home.
